The riad

A garden, a pool and a rooftop view — a rare oasis in the old medina of Fes.

Ryad Mabrouka is a charming, characterful riad in the heart of Fès el-Bali — the ancient walled medina — a couple of minutes’ walk from the main pedestrian street and the Blue Gate. Faithfully restored in the traditional Fes style, it wraps a courtyard of sculpted mosaic columns, carved cedar doors and a bubbling fountain, which opens — rare in this dense old city — onto a Mediterranean garden of roses and orange trees with a small swimming pool.

Up on the roof, a panoramic terrace looks out over the medina and the surrounding hills. There’s a traditional hammam, and meals are taken in the garden under the orange trees or on the terrace with the city spread below. Dinner on your arrival evening and breakfast each morning are included.

Each room is unique, and named accordingly.

A garden and pool in the medina. A private garden of roses and orange trees with a small swimming pool — a genuine rarity in the dense old city — opens off the courtyard, with a panoramic terrace above.
In the old medina. The medina is largely car-free, so you'll arrive on foot for the last stretch — there's a car park with easy access about 150 m away, and the staff can help with bags and directions.
⚑ Note: the riad describes itself as not suited to very young children — worth checking for family bookings.
