The Lodge Hara Oasis sits deep in the palm grove of Agdz, on the Draa — the track in winds through an ancient village and under the palms, and then the lodge appears: earth-built bungalows in traditional materials, a kasbah with peacocks on its tower, lush gardens, a pool, and the great layered ridge of Jbel Kissane filling the horizon. Guests routinely call it the best stay of their Morocco trip.
Everything runs at oasis pace. Days close with the mountain turning copper, dinner in the garden by candle and lantern light — a kitchen with a serious reputation, beer and wine available — and a night of deep palm-grove quiet. In February, the almond trees blossom.
