Our day trip to Ouzoud waterfalls starts with a 3-hour drive through the picturesque Atlas Mountains. The falls are located north of Marrakech, in the village of Tanaghmeilt, in the province of Azilal.
On our way to Ouzoud waterfalls, we will drive past vast fields of olive trees, and as we get closer, the falls will become visible from a distance- this view alone is rather spectacular!
When we arrive at Ouzoud falls, you will notice that the walking paths extend up towards the falls and around the water streams below. you can also go for a swim in the natural swimming pools of the Ouzoud Cascade, or if you are brave enough, you can join the locals and jump off the high cliffs into the water.

What an incredible day we experienced! We booked the tour with Marrakech Desert Trips, They kept us well informed and even checked in after we returned to make sure we had a great time. Our friendly driver, Hassan, who had taken us on a tour just two days before, accompanied us. While there’s a fair amount of walking involved, you can go at your own pace. We walked down to the base of the waterfalls and paid 20 dirhams per person for a boat ride, which was a lot of fun. Afterward, we leisurely made our way back up, taking a break halfway for a delicious three-course meal that cost 100 dirhams per person. It was absolutely worth it. At the top, we even got to see some monkeys. We absolutely adored this excursion!

This journey is an absolute essential for anyone visiting Morocco. We joined Marrakech Desert Trips for this adventure, and let me tell you, they’re an incredible company. They prioritized our safety and comfort, making us feel entirely at ease. Our driver, Mohamed, was a delight. He made us feel comfortable from the start, and my kids absolutely adored him. The entire experience, from the moment we were picked up to the time we were dropped off, was fantastic. The Ouzoud Waterfalls are an absolute must-see. They are breathtaking, and the monkeys there are a sight to behold. When we visited, it wasn’t crowded at all. The walk down to the base of the waterfall was delightful, and our guide was knowledgeable and responsive, answering all our questions and sharing fascinating facts. Lunch at the restaurant with a view of the waterfall was exquisite. Every single one of us enjoyed our meal to the last bite. The boat ride, priced at just 20 dirhams per person, is worth it. The views from the water are simply stunning. This experience should definitely be on everyone’s bucket list.

The journey from Marrakech to Ouzoud offers stunning landscapes. The waterfalls themselves are truly exceptional, reaching a height of 110 meters, making them the second tallest in Africa after Victoria Falls. The kids had a blast interacting with the monkeys there. Our driver, Ali, was not only friendly but also provided us with many insights into local life. What’s more, you can stay connected with WiFi during the journey. I highly recommend Ali for this excursion.

Our driver arrived on time and in a clean and comfy vehicle to pick us up from our hotel in Marrakech. We were securely transported to Ouzoud Falls, where we met our tour guide. He was a young, energetic man who pointed out birds, frogs, turtles, and, of course, endangered Barbary Macaques when we informed him we were interested in wildlife.
